A half-copied library still opens.

Photo and video libraries are live databases. Copy one while it's open and you can get back a library that looks fine and is missing work you had already saved.

  • Checked as it copies. AvastorX reads the library's own write markers before and after. If they moved, the copy didn't catch one moment in time.
  • Discarded, not stored. A copy that didn't hold together is thrown away and taken again. After three tries AvastorX reports the library busy.
  • One archive, in and out. A library uploads as a single archive and downloads as one.

The bytes match

In our testing an idle Photos library came back byte for byte, every file present.

Nothing dropped in silence

If a file can't be fetched partway through, the desktop app names it in the completion report.

What a ZIP can't carry

Finder tags and comments don't survive the round trip, and a Final Cut library's self-referencing link comes back as an empty file. That's the ZIP format, not AvastorX. The FAQ lists it.
